This image was taken recently off the West Coast of France.

The sea seems completely flat as result of a long exposure.

The two red posts are way markers for the safe channel to come into this tiny little harbour.

Despite being a strictly minimalist image it still tells a story.

In the past boats will have foundered on the shores here which hide potentially dangerous rocks at high tide.

It is close to a fishing area where the old fashioned methods are used with nets that are lowered into the water, left in place for a while then raised to see what fish may have strayed into the net.

I couldn’t swear to the productivity of this method but it goes with the general authenticity of the way of life here in the maritime region close to Bordeaux.

There is a lovely calm feeling in this image, which I will be showing among the new work at the Windsor Contemporary Art fair in a couple of weeks.

This is available as the first of a set of only 15 Limited Edition prints.

It would make a beautiful Christmas or Thanksgiving gift for anyone who loves the sea.

Come and see me on Stand 63 to discuss whether this image is for you, or if there’s another one you prefer. I will be showing several new images taken earlier this year and most will be as Limited Edition prints.

The show is at the Windsor Racecourse on November 10th and 11th
