Description
One of a small series of images from Arcachon in South West France.
The resort of Arcachon is set on a large lagoon, almost closed off from the sea, but not quite. The lagoon is tidal and is a very successful place for oyster farming. It is also great place for sailing, and the boats have to ensure they avoid the areas where oysters are farmed, particularly because there are sticks placed in the water on which the oysters cling.
These sticks make for quite interesting images, and most of the images in this series were taken late in the day, and while there was significant rain. At high tide the sticks are either invisible or much shorter, but at low tide they become visible.
